The ancestors of Dr. R. Hafeez Basha were from Ranipet (near Vellore) in the erstwhile Madras State (now Tamil Nadu) who later migrated to Srikalahasti in the present Tirupati District of Andhra Pradesh. His paternal Grand Father was Tahsildar (Mandal Revenue Officer) and maternal Grand Father retired as Deputy Director of the Government Press. His father R. Imroz Basha was senior official at Punjab National Bank and mother Noorunnisa served as a high school teacher. Both of them are now wellness coaches at Herbalife Nutrition post retirement that deals with weight loss, ayurvedic nutrition and personal care products.
He was born and brought up at Hyderabad, completed his studies and started working in the same city. He married his colleague Nafeesa Parveen a native of Guntur District, Andhra Pradesh and daughter of a police officer. She supported him for his higher studies and even accompanied him to Japan and various other countries that they visited. After returning to India they were blessed with a baby boy whom they named Haider Basha. She became a homemaker to take care of their son and manages some of the businesses initiated by her husband. Haider Basha turned 7 this year and is in his 2nd Grade at school.
