Traveling
Dr. R. Hafeez Basha has a distinction of traveling to 13+ countries without spending any money from his pocket. He visited United Kingdom, France, China, Japan, Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, South Korea, Vietnam, Cambodia, Nepal and Sri Lanka. He has never been to the United States due to his personal reasons. Inside India he had been to Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Odisha, Maharashtra, Gujarat, Rajasthan, Punjab, West Bengal and New Delhi where his flight tickets, accommodation and food at 5-star hotels and local transportation / airport transfers were always been taken care by the organizers who invited him.
Sports
Dr. R. Hafeez Basha started from Gully Cricket and evolved into playing tournaments both in his school and college. He was mostly a wicket keeper or slip fielder and occasionally a leg spinner bowler and a middle order batsman. He established Kumamoto University Cricket Club (KUCC) and served as its founder President during his stay in Japan. Though it was initially only foreign students from countries like Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Nepal and India, even the Japanese and Chinese students who played Base Ball switched to cricket eventually. After he returned to India the KUCC continued to operate under new elected leadership who went on to promote cricket in other parts of Japan.
Cooking
He is an avid foodie and good at cooking Indo-Chinese cuisine especially Manchurian starters and Schezwan Noodles. On the other hand his wife Nafeesa Parveen is specialist in Mughlai cuisine including Biryani, Haleem, Nihari, Shawarma, etc. During their stay in Japan they identified that Kumamoto City was having very few Indian Restaurants and were serving only North Indian Food cooked by Nepali Chefs. They introduced Hyderabadi Biryani near Kumamoto University campus at Rest House Orissa. It became successful with South Indian Food at affordable prices in the form of set-menu especially for international students. It was also covered by local Japanese News Channel.
Singing & Dancing
Since his school days he participated in singing, dancing, skit drama, etc. and won prizes for his performances. He continued the same while working with corporate companies especially at the occasions of annual day, visits by leadership team from abroad and the foreign clients. During his stay in Japan he represented India in various cultural programs and showcased his countries culture and tradition. Some of his most memorable performances include dancing in France on the song “I am the Best” and Folk Dance at International Festival of Kumamoto University International Students’ Association that introduced Gujarati Dandia, Punjabi Bhangra and Tamil Lungi Dance.
